Often, we will suggest that you rinse with salt water. Here is what you need to know. Healing and SaltSalt has been used for healing for thousands of years. While many ancient cures are no longer practiced, this one is still used. Salt helps to inhibit the growth of bacteria in your mouth. It also has anti-inflammatory properties. This will help to cut down on the possibility of infection and will also help with swelling. Salt Water RinseYou do not need to purchase any special ingredients or a prepared solution in order to receive the benefits of a salt water rinse. It is something that you can easily prepare using things that you already have in your pantry. All that you need is half a teaspoon of salt and a cup of warm water. Mix the salt and water together until the salt is dissolved. Then rinse your mouth immediately. Make sure that you swish it around in your entire mouth. After a few seconds, spit it out. You should do this every couple of hours for the first three days, and then three times a day after that. A salt water rinse is an inexpensive way to help your mouth to heal.
