Some items you probably have at home, but would need to gather. Other items you may need to purchase from the store. Here are a few essentials to make sure are ready before you head in to have your surgery done.
Make Recovery Easier By Having These Items Ready to Go
First, you want to have some extra pillows set up wherever you will be resting. It doesn't matter if you want to chill on the couch or veg in your bed.
You want those extra pillows to lean back on. Lying flat is not a good idea, and can increase swelling, bleeding, and pain. Instead, you want to stay elevated for a few days following your surgery to keep those to a minimum.
Second, you need foods you can eat following your surgery. This should include eggs, soups, yogurt, and soft favorites. For a day or two, it won't hurt if you eat little more than oatmeal, Jell-O and pudding. What matters is that you eat. After the pain and swelling subside, you can worry about the nutritional aspect of your diet.
Finally, you want to have your medications ready. Sometimes you can get away with little more than over-the-counter medications. Other times, you may need narcotics for a day or two.
Find out from your oral surgeon if you should get this filled the day before and bring it in with you, or if they would prefer to only call in the prescription if you need it.
