Types of Extractions We Perform

2. Anesthesia & Sedation

3. Surgical Procedure

The tooth is gently removed using advanced surgical techniques. If needed, Dr. Sullivan may:

Recovery Timeline & Tips

• Initial healing: 1–2 weeks for gum tissue
• Light activity: Usually resumed within 24–48 hours
• Full bone healing: May take several months (especially before implant placement)

For a Smooth Recovery:

• Avoid smoking and drinking through straws (prevents dry socket)
• Stick to soft, cool foods like yogurt, scrambled eggs, and smoothies
• Take medications as prescribed
• Avoid heavy lifting or exercise for the first 48 hours

Understanding Dry Socket

The good news is that of the thousands of dental extractions performed by Dr. Sullivan, he has had less than 10 cases of Dry Socket occur.

Dry Socket occurs when the blood clot protecting the surgical site becomes dislodged, exposing the bone and nerves. It can delay healing and cause pain.

Preventive Tips:

• Do not use straws
• Avoid tobacco products
• Follow all aftercare instructions closely
